After a family tragedy, Emily, Navin and their mother move to an ancestral home to start a new life. On the family's very first night in the mysterious house, Em and Navin's mom is kidnapped by a tentacled creature. Now it's up to Em and Navin to figure out how to set things right and save their mother's life!

This is a middle-grade graphic novel that I've seen bouncing around BookTube and decided to check it out. I'm not a huge graphic novel reader but I've become curious about the genre.

This book is book one in a series. It's about a brother and a sister named Navin and Emily. After a tragic accident at the beginning of this book, two years later looking for a fresh start Navin, Emily, and their mother move. Taking a look at the cover you can old imagine the weirdest things start to happen to the siblings. After moving into their new old-looking house, Emily finds something that leads her to adventures, a talking rabbit and a creature that's trying to eat them.

There's a lot of adventure and it's expected from a middle-grade book but it was a fun, dark and exciting adventure. The beginning is definitely emotion but necessary to effect the reader in how emotional the night of the accident was for the family.

The illustrations in this book went well with the story and I enjoyed it. Being a graphic novel this book was a quick read but a fun one.

I'll continue on with this series as a fun, quick and easy read.  I recommend this to readers who enjoy middle-grade book already.
